MJ HARRIS CONSTRUCTION : CONCRETE VICTORY

The Construction Channel caught up with MJ Harris Construction Services, a large general contractor headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. MJ Harris was recently awarded the $26 million School of Nursing Addition & Renovation project at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

As with any jobsite, there can be unforeseen challenges and this project was no exception. After 8 months of demolition, excavation, rock removal, underground water, and shoring protection, the team, led by John Richardson – Superintendent, Rob Harris – Project Manager, Dwayne Maxwell – Concrete Superintendent, Kyle Moore – Project Engineer and Ricky Wallace – Field Engineer, overcame these obstacles to finally pour the first elevated deck. In weeks since, the project has moved forward with the pours of four additional decks.

When your team needs a victory in concrete at 2 am, MJ Harris can do just that! The architect is Williams Blackstock & Associates and LBYD is the structural engineering team.

Special Thanks to all the hard work that has gone unnoticed on this project. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
