Alabama AGC Welcomes Eddie Stewart into Alabama Construction Hall of Fame.
Stewart is currently in his 41st year of a varied construction career that has spanned a wide range of both domestic and international markets. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction from Georgia Tech and later completed the Executive Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. His diverse project background includes embassies, correctional facilities, courthouses, barracks, military family housing, airports, power plants, research and development complexes, hospitals, and other commercial and industrial initiatives.
A member of the original founding team at Caddell Construction Company, Stewart has held various positions of increasing responsibilities, including Vice President of Estimating and Purchasing, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and currently President/Chief Executive Officer. Among Caddell’s signature projects are the United States Embassies in Beijing, China and Kabul, Afghanistan, two terminals at the George Bush International Airport in Houston, and the “Patton” Command and Control Headquarters Complex at Shaw Air Force Base. Caddell is also among several companies awarded contracts by the Department of Homeland Security to build a prototype border wall.
The company boasts more than $10.5 billion in current or completed projects worldwide. Stewart is very active in the Associated General Contractors of America, at both the state and national level. He is the past 2018 president of the Alabama AGC chapter and serves on the State Board of Directors. At the national level, Stewart is active on numerous committees and task forces and has served as Chairman of the NAVFAC Committee, Chairman of the Federal & Heavy Division, and multiple terms on the National Executive Board. He is also a Life Governor on the Board of Governors and a member of the Consulting Constructors Council.
On February 28, 2018, Stewart was nominated as president of AGC of America, making him the first president from Alabama in the association’s 100-year history. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, in a video of congratulations at his induction, said Stewart has “made a real difference in the lives of thousands of Alabamians”.
A native of Atlanta, GA and a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL, Eddie and his wife of 42 years, Robin, have raised five children and are enjoying their 10 grandchildren.
